Summary: Staff the refuge Visitor Center on Saturdays.
Description: Work with another volunteer to staff the front desk at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Staff will not be present in the building on Saturdays, so Saturday hosts are required to undergo a background check before starting. During your shift, you will:
- Greet refuge visitors and answer their questions about refuge wildlife and recreational activities.
- Keep the Visitor Center tidy and restock brochures and flyers.
- Track visitation.
- Answer the phone.
- Operate videos upon request.
- Help with office tasks like shredding papers or folding brochures.
- Optionally, open the Grebe's Nest Nature Store and manage sales during your shift.

Description
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, founded by President Theodore Roosevelt on February 25, 1909, is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS).
Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the System preserves a network of lands and waters set aside for the conservation and management of the nation's fish, wildlife, and plant resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
