More and more studies are showing that positive interactions with animals give humans a type of medication without side effects, an enriched life, and a healing unlike any prescription can provide.
Interaction with dogs has been scientifically shown to:
* Reduce emotional and physical pain, boredom, anxiety
* Lift spirits and improve confidence
Abode Hospice will provide free training to any Volunteers interested along with free background checks and TB testing.

Mission Statement
Abode Hospice is committed to recognizing that individuals and families are the true experts in their own care. We support our staff so they can put our patients and families first. We will focus on enhancing the patient’s quality of life, preserving the patient’s dignity and dealing with the patient’s end of life issues. Our team of professionals will provide education to the community, patient, and family to encourage the use of Hospice services everywhere. Our mission is to treat all those that we come in contact with (patients, caregivers, fellow employees, referral sources, vendors and payers) the way we would want to be treated.
Description
The philosophy of Abode Hospice is to provide the terminally ill patient and his or her family and friends supportive and loving care, in tranquil surroundings, and the wherewithal to live fully and comfortably for as long as possible. The patient is then permitted to die naturally and with dignity when the time comes.
Hospice Care seeks to alleviate emotional and spiritual pain, and to control the accompanying symptoms. While it may be futile to pursue aggressive treatments or surgery, Hospice can provide attention, friendship, care and love.
With appropriate intervention and utilization of the multitude of resources that are available for palliation and pain control, the last months, weeks and days of an individual’s life can have quality, and provide loved ones with lasting memories of special moments.
