G.I.R.D.L.E., Inc. & New Birth International Church

Diamond Mentor Program

Program Description

G.I.R.D.L.E., Inc. will provide a safe environment and reliable relationships for each young lady who participates in our mentoring program. We will foster expectations for high achievement by providing mentors to engage with the young ladies. They will involve the young ladies in group support sessions aimed at strengthening positive peer socialization. Mentors have the opportunity to be assigned to at least 2 young ladies for one on one mentoring outside of the group setting it they choose. Mentors can volunteer for one or more sessions. Mentors will be trained and supervised by the Program Coordinator. Our goals are to incorporate strategies that build positive relationships, strengthen peer acceptance, and instill positive social and life skills. This program will empower participants to recognize unhealthy choices that could cause ongoing problems.

This program has critical elements that address the specialized education services for at-risk female teens regarding self-development, life skills, economic independence and interpersonal relationship skills. G.I.R.D.L.E., Inc. recognizes that teens’ own developmental issues often inhibit them from looking too far ahead of the present, especially at-risk teens. Therefore, this program will incorporate education on realistic goal settings.

This program group sessions will met on Tuesdays from 2pm - 6pm at New Birth International Church. This program will also incorporate field trips that will include but not limited to museums, Get Away, etiquette dinner outing, supervised age appropriate sleepovers, pageants and/or talent programs and age appropriate community service. Each participant will receive a completion certificate for curriculum competed.

For more information call 248.252.0440 or attend our Kick - Off Friday, November 9th at 6pm at New Birth International Church.

Mission Statement

GIRDLE is a support system designed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by providing mental, spiritual, and physical encouragement to women ages twelve and older.

Description

GIRDLE is a Christian organization that will use old school morals, manners, etiquette, and the word of God to support and shape young and mature women through support groups, weekend retreats, workshops, life skill classes, and mentoring. We recognized that young ladies today are missing key elements in their instruction and education during their teen years. GIRDLE is devoted to filling the gap and extending our services to meet the needs of young and mature ladies who are carrying wounds of abuse, rejection, and lack of guidance.
