Much of your role will be to collect research material, including daily sightings of the various species of whales and dolphins, recurring visits and the migratory habits of the various whales and dolphins in the area. The fieldwork site is off the shores of Knysna and it's beautiful lagoon.

This Marine Research programme will expose you to all aspects of this exciting industry, from conservation and research to all other aspects of the day-to-day running, including

  • marketing of the marine tours provided to visitors,
  • liaising with clients,
  • crewing and guiding on the boats,
  • doing land to sea observations and whale spotting,
  • assisting with community projects and
  • educating the local children about the sea and lagoon.
Includes Arranging your program, meeting you at the airport, accommodation and food, full in-country support, and more. Minimum program duration is 1 week, minimum age is 16 unless accompanied by an adult.

Description

  • We provide volunteering programs to people of all ages and nationalities in 20 countries in Asia, South and North America, Africa and Australasia.
  • You can work with abused animals and threatened wildlife, care for disadvantaged children, teach English and other subjects in schools abroad, or gain experience on internships overseas.
  • All our projects are risk-assessed and we have local staff in-country to look after you throughout your program
  • All projects supported by us are chosen on the basis of being worthwhile which provide benefit to the project and to our volunteers.
