Many W2C students need extra help to succeed in school. If you enjoy helping students learn in subjects ranging from 5th grade social studies to Spanish, French, and 12th grade calculus, tutoring may be for you! Tutors work one-on-one with W2C students and W2C staff talks with tutors to understand their skills and levels at which they would be comfortable tutoring. Tutoring occurs on Saturday mornings throughout the school year between 9am and 12pm.
Each tutoring session is 1 hour long, on a specified subject. Students bring materials such as homework, a test/quiz for review, or projects to work on. Many tutors work for more than one time slot. Each week, W2C staff coordinates a roster of tutors and students so that tutors know what subject(s), student(s), and time slot(s) they are scheduled for each week. Tutors who are available to come most Saturdays are assigned to the same students week after week.
For volunteers who can't commit to a weekly assignment, W2C maintains a substitute list. These tutors are contacted on a week by week basis to fill in when regular tutors will be absent.
