Literacy Alliance's early literacy program-Kindergarten Readiness

-This program involves eight weeks of daily one-on-one interaction with selected pre-k students to increase their vocabulary and create the desire to learn. Opportunities are at several different elementary schools. Volunteers are asked to commit to giving one hour once a week for eight weeks.

Volunteering opportunities are Monday - Friday. Your one hour may be served during the morning between 8:30am and 9:30am. This next session will begin October 7th and will conclude November 22nd. The second session for FY24-25 is January 13, 2025 for eight consecutive weeks.

Training Dates: Will be scheduled as needed.

Specific school details will be sent to all Reading Buddies once the application materials are received. Please contact Ms. Tolbert by e-mail for more information (volunteer@theliteracyalliance.org) regarding training.

Description

Columbus Literate Community Program, Inc. (doing business as Literacy Alliance) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to increase literacy levels in the Chattahoochee Valley. Literacy Alliance has played an integral part in improving literacy since its inception in 1990. There are three impact areas that guide our efforts to increasing reading proficiency for youth and adults. Those are early literacy, family literacy, and adult literacy.
