Description: Provide one-on-one marketing/sales consulting to WomenVenture clients for startup & emerging businesses. Subjects covered include: sales forecast; pricing; marketing plan set-up/review; product or service description review; establishing target market; target market comparison; collection of competitive data; competitive analysis; branding; SWOT analysis; market research; social media marketing; graphic design; and others.

Consultations are set at volunteers' convenience as to date and time; typically each consult is 1 hour held at WomenVenture offices. Appointments are scheduled after WV staff has discussed client concern with consultant. WomenVenture does not allow cold calls from clients to consultants.

Skills & qualifications:

The most successful marketing volunteers have experience in the following areas:

•5+ years of experience in Small Business Banking or Commercial Lending OR
•Marketing Manager or Product Manager

•Four Year degree (in business or marketing preferred)
•Experience reviewing business plans
•Ability to price service and retail products
•Experience managing the product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, including time-integrated plans for product introduction
•Experience conducting market research to advise on specific market requirements for current and future products
•Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and cash flow projections
•Demonstrated examples of improving specific business’ financial outcomes by interpreting financial statements and current marketing and recommending specific marketing solutions
•In depth understanding of value proposition/positioning and new product development
•Commitment to WomenVenture’s Mission and passion for entrepreneurship
•Demonstrated problem solving skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
•Professional dress and attitude
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, capable as an intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
