We seek volunteer tutors who can give 3 hours a week (twice a week for 90 minutes each session) to help adults with reading, writing, and/or math. We'd like to have our volunteer tutors be able to make a 6 month commitment to the program.
Receive a 9-hour tutor training and ongoing support. We have materials to use. We have a computer lab. This work is an investment in Philadelphia, and it's fun and challenging!

Mission Statement
The Center for Literacy's mission is to provide free literacy instruction and a wide range of other services that respond to the diversity of individuals and enable adult learners to meet their goals.

The Center for Literacy was founded in West Philadelphia in 1968 by a group of citizens who were concerned about the low literacy rates among their neighbors. The agency began as a small tutoring program in a church basement, but has since expanded to include over 100 sites around Philadelphia, to offer a vast array of programs, and to serve thousands of learners every year.
