Hoping to gain experience in the field of mental health while establishing deep interpersonal connections?
Plymouth House of Healing is a unique family-style home in which volunteers live alongside residents transitioning out of inpatient psychiatric treatment. We seek to interrupt the cycle of hospitalization and homelessness by providing residents with companionship, housing, and deep respect. We believe that people are better equipped to pursue holistic well-being in the context of loving community.
Residents come to House of Healing following a period of inpatient psychiatric treatment and stay with us until they are able to secure permanent housing. Companions offer healing presence and day-to-day emotional support by conversing over a cup of coffee, preparing and sharing in a family-style meal, or playing a favorite board game. They encourage and model accountability, sensitivity, and self-awareness.
This is a year-long, live-in time of service. Private room and board are provided. In addition, a monthly stipend of $375, health insurance and a bus pass are provided.
Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Please contact Plymouth House of Healing Coordinator Peter Strand (firstname.lastname@example.org) for additional information.
