Twice a year, usually in the late-spring to late-summer, we conduct grant reviews for our community grant programs. We recruit people with the appropriate skills, experience and/or knowledge to serve on one of the Grant Review Panels to assist with identifying breast health projects that are highly meritorious and impactful.
An orientation and training is provided, and each process is conducted over a month period. Interested individuals will be reviewed by the Affiliate’s Grants Committee to ensure a balanced and well-rounded review panel that possess diverse experiences, and skills required for this volunteer position.
Applicants must be aged 21 years or older; strong critical and analytical thinkers; and a willingness to be fair and objective.
Grant Reviewers are required to volunteer their time on weeknights and weekends during the review period.

Mission Statement
Our promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
Description
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. The Komen Orange County Affiliate has been making strides in our community since 1991. The Affiliate is proud to have raised nearly $15 million on behalf of the Komen promise.
