We are looking for a very special group of
volunteers to become part of our Optum Paliative and
Hospice Care 11th Hour Team.
Volunteers will support hospice patients through
the actively dying process.
Required skills: a heart of compassion,
patience and dependability. Demonstrates ability
to maintain confidentiality, respond on short
notice and travel to the patient’s home
11th Hour Volunteers can be of support
to patients and families by:
Helping in creating peaceful surroundings
Sharing silence
Offering a calm and peaceful presence
Active listening
Playing soft music
Reading inspirational text
Providing comfort, support or relief to caregivers
Advocating for patients as needed
Listening to loved ones share stories
Helping loved ones say good bye

Description
We serve patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families through an integrated team approach, providing expertise in medical, social, spiritual and bereavement counseling during a uniquely personal time of transition.
