ORGANIZATION: Denver Urban Scholars

  • 46 people are interested

1 in 3 kids in this country grow up without a mentor. These students are more likely to drop out of school, do drugs or alcohol, or join a gang. A caring, interested adult can make all the difference.

At Denver Urban Scholars, we believe in a life of choice and opportunity for every student. By providing social, emotional, academic, and mentoring support, our scholars have the tools to create an individual pathway to college and career.

Mentors are key to our program model, as they serve to establish a personal bond with their mentee, supporting their progress in achieving personal and academic goals, as well as opening opportunities for new experiences that encourage growth.

Who we are looking for: Caring adults 21 years or older.

Time/schedule requirement: 2 outings per month, with weekly contact in between. This time commitment can be anywhere from 8-12 hours (which includes drive time to/from, any phone calls/texts/emails), but is completely flexible. Once you are matched, you and your mentee can schedule when/where/how often you meet!

Support: we provide trainings prior to matching you with a student, to ensure that the match is successful. We also hold quarterly mentor happy hours, giving you the opportuntity to network with folks in the community to grow your professional and personal relationships!

Make a difference and become a mentor at Denver Urban Scholars.
