An outgoing personality, good customer skills and willing attitude are essential. Extensive walking is required.

Patient Concierge Program participants: Must be at least 16 years of age and may be required to walk distances and be on their feet for most of the time. All Volunteers must attend general volunteer orientation and an additional training session specific to the program. Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with clients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the employee handbook and all hospital policies.

Duties include: entering patient rooms, assisting the patient with non-clinical requests, socialization and meal trays. Retrieving items for patients such as tissues, linens, pillows, blankets, food and drink items, assisting with completion of menus, etc. are some of the possible requests. This position is assiting the nurses and aides to help them in any way. You might be on the stroke unit and helping during meal time or taking a patient to the lab to get an xray done. You could assist a patient down to the outpatient therapy lab one day and be delivering food trays the next if you want to. There is always something to do!!!
