Three people are needed to train as educational outreach volunteers with our Traveling Trunk program. The Traveling Trunk visits schools and community groups around Cupertino, Sunnyvale, and Saratoga. Volunteers travel to one or two schools a month, presenting information about the history of Cupertino, in accordance with state educational standards. Volunteers work mainly with school children but also with local YMCA groups, scout troups, senior centers, and service clubs. The Traveling Trunk serves 1,000 - 1,500 people a year, with 800 - 900 being children. Volunteers can look forward to learning more about state and local history; training and working with other friendly and active volunteers; and joining a program with a 25-year history in the community.
