Book-O-Ween is just around the corner and we are looking for your support as a volunteer!
Book-O-Ween is about refocusing the energy around Halloween to incorporate reading and the importance of literacy. This year we are asking volunteers to join in on the fun and share the gift of literacy with our students at CentroNía through reading your favorite Spanish or English children's book.
This year, students will range from infants and toddlers to PreK (3-4 years old), if you have an age preference please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Additionally, if you have a book in mind that you would like to read, let us know and we can put you with the correct age group. We will also provide a list of sample books for each grade in case you need some inspiration! We can also provide a book the day of if needed.
Please arrive at CentroNía at 1420 Columbia Rd, NW by 9:00 am on Friday, October 27th. Below is a schedule of events for the day:
- 9:00-9:30: Welcome and morning refreshments (Check in with reception desk and someone will escort to La Plaza for a brief welcome and light breakfast/coffee.)
- 9:30-9:45: Read-a-loud in the assigned classrooms
- 9:45-10:30: Classroom activity
