We are thrilled to kick off the 2018 Exceptional Equestrians Spring Season on the Greenway!
The Exceptional Equestrians Program began in 1982 to serve area children and adults with special needs. Anne Springs Close fostered a partnership with Rock Hill Parks & Recreation to offer therapeutic riding for local children and adults with disabilities. The program now includes participants from the Fort Mill School District and Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism.
No horse experience is necessary, though it helps to be comfortable around them. Volunteers participate as side walkers, stabilizing the rider and providing an extra degree of safety and encouragement.
Please see dates and times below.
TUESDAY AFTERNOONS (4-5p): March 13, 20, 27 and April 10, 17, 24
WEDNESDAY MORNINGS (10-11a): March 14, 21, 28 and April 11, 18, 25
FRIDAY MORNINGS (9a-11a): March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and April 20, 27, May 4
*These dates reflect skipping April 3 & 4 for Rock Hill and Fort Mill school spring breaks and having three sessions before and three session after the break.
Arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for parking. Wear close-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Greenway volunteer shirts will be available on the first Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday session of the season.

Mission Statement
To provide stewardship and protect the cultural, ecological and scenic features of the land, while offering recreational and educational opportunities that promote the health and wellness of the community.
Description
Leroy Springs & Company has been providing recreational and educational opportunities to the communities surrounding Springs Industries facilities for over 60 years. In 1995, the Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100 acre nature preserve in Fort Mill, South Carolina, was dedicated to the public to serve as a natural buffer from urban development and a place for countless activities - from hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, to picnics, kayaking and more.
The land was donated by the children of Anne Springs Close to honor her lifelong commitment to recreation and the environment. The Greenway is a not-for-profit entity which receives no ongoing tax dollars to build, maintain or operate its programs, trails and facilities. Owned and managed by Leroy Springs & Company, the Greenway is funded in part by memberships, program fees and generous donations from individuals and corporations.
