CFC Families

At Child & Family Connections, we believe that everyone thrives when the work is important, challenging, rewarding, and fun. So our volunteers are treated like staff, given the same level of responsibility (and accountability) and access to leadership and organizational information as part of our team. Our staff all work virtually, usually from the comfort of home or anywhere else conducive to doing great work. This allow us to dedicate nearly all of our funding to direct service programs, helping families at risk. The ability (and interest) in working independently is required. For the most part, you can make your own hours. Not a morning person? No problem! Prefer working from the comfort of your home or from your favorite coffee shop? You decide!

Alas, we've been woefully neglectful on our social media efforts in large part because we need the help of a Social Media Manager.

This is a unique opportunity to work with our leadership, staff, and even our Board Members to design, develop, implement, and manage a cross-platform social media strategy to raise awareness about the groundbreaking work we do and to help build a community of like-minded organizations and people to whom we provide services.

The Social Media Manager will develop and execute a strategy to promote our pioneering and impactful programs while ensuring our hard-earned reputation locally and nationally as a thought-leader in the field of families and parental mental health. Fortunately, we have some strong material to work with-many conference presentations, keynotes, published articles, and more. The ability to tie social media into a broader marketing strategy is strongly preferred.

If this sounds like your type of opportunity and you'd like to help families in need, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your resume or CV and tell us a little about yourself. Requirements: Professional experience in Social Media. College degree. Experience or interest in the behavioral health field is helpful. Excellent communication skills, maturity, and trustworthiness.

Let's do great things together!

About Child & Family Connections

Location:

314 N. 12th Street, Suite 304, Philadelphia, PA 19107, US

Mission Statement

Child & Family Connections improves the lives of families living with parental mental illness in meaningful ways--through education, advocacy, and support.

Description

When 9-year-old Charlotte asked to meet other kids who have a parent with a mental health condition, it was a milestone in a journey that began a decade earlier with her father’s institutionalization, destitution, and near-death from his bipolar disorder.

Inspired by her request, they co-founded Child & Family Connections, Inc. (CFC), the nation’s first nonprofit that exclusively supports families living with parental mental illness by empowering them to handle adversity and build resiliency.

We are privileged to be a part of the process of helping families heal as Charlotte’s request continues to transform lives.

People We Serve

  • We serve low-income families living with parental mental illness in the Philadelphia region.
  • 100% of adults are parents (single, married couples, adoptive, foster, grandparents) diagnosed with a serious mental illness, many with co-occurring disorders, often legally disabled, ranging in age from 17 to 73.
  • 60% of their children, ages birth to young adult, have mental health challenges of their own.
  • 83% of families are African-American,
  • 67% live below the federal poverty line, with a median annual income of $13,000.
  • While all have some degree of English proficiency, 58% have not completed a high school level of education.
