ORGANIZATION: San Francisco AIDS Foundation

Just like in Santa’s workshop, it takes a village of elves to make Santa Skivvies Run happen. The event relies on volunteers to make sure everything runs smoothly and everyone has a happy and safe event experience. Volunteers are needed for a number of jobs including Santa’s Village setup, participant check-in and registration, and route monitoring Safety Elves!

7. Safety Elf/Corse Monitor: 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM

Safety Elves are stationed at various intersections along the route to help ensure the safety of the runners and to enforce adherence to all traffic laws. The goal is to stop the participants from crossing the intersection against the lights and to be safe at all times in this festive romp. In addition to stopping runners at intersections, we encourage our Safety Elves to interact with the runners by asking them do something playful like jumping jacks/pushups/jog in place until the light changes. Additionally, we ask our Safety Elves to be decked out in festive outfits. All volunteers must be in place by 10:45 AM and the shift ends when the caboose runner has passed. The route is 1.5 miles long and the run begins at 11:00 AM.

8. Merchandise: 8:30AM - 12:30 PM (with a short break in the middle)

Volunteers with good customer service skills, organization ability, and enthusiasm are needed to help manage a merchandise booth.

Volunteers will be working onsite at Levi's Plaza to help SFAF in their efforts to keep their clients healthy. Converting bulk supplies to individual sizes is a never ending job that the SFAF relies heavily on volunteers for. Work will involve putting together snack packs as well as making-up small packs of both Vitamin C powder and cotton balls. All of these items will be handed out at mobile clinics that SFAF runs several times a week around San Francisco.
