Arts Unbound is a non-profit gallery and art studio in Orange serving people with disabilities and seniors. In May, Arts Unbound is hosting our fourth annual ArtBender.
ArtBender is a series of creative events that raise funds for Arts Unbound programs and promote art in our daily lives. Join the 12-hour art-making marathon, attend an ArtBender party, help raise funds, or attend the silent auction. There will be events all weekend, May 5-6 and a silent art auction, May 11, 2018.
Celebrate your creative nature...reveal the unrealized potential in all of us...and help Arts Unbound raise $50,000 to support artists with disabilities.
We need volunteers to help make ArtBender a success. We are looking for local folks to help with the following:
Distribute posters to local businesses
Distribute postcards to local public places (libraries, coffee shops, groceries) and businesses
Ask for refreshment donations for art marathon and auction
Ask businesses, especially barbershops, hair salons, and nail salons, to participate
Encourage people to host a bender or attend one
Sell auction tickets
In your reply, please tell us which tasks you'd like to take on.

About Arts Unbound
Location:
544 FREEMAN ST, ORANGE, NJ 07050, US
Mission Statement
Arts Unbound is dedicated to the artistic achievement of people living with disabilities and to the continuing artistic enrichment of seniors. We provide visual arts education and professional development to help emerging artists compete on the retail market. By promoting the work of artists with disabilities and seniors, we center their art-making rather than any impairments and by doing so challenge the stigma associated with disability and aging. Our goals: To promote careers in the visual arts as an option for people with disabilities or special needs. To provide ongoing participatory arts programming to seniors to support their artistic expression and emotional wellbeing. To ensure artists with disabilities have equal access to resources and can express their own creative vision, rather than be isolated or suppressed.
Description
Arts Unbound (AU) is a non-profit organization founded in 2000. In the simplest terms, we are an art gallery and educational art studio for people with disabilities and seniors. Yet what we are doing, through the arts, is challenging the stigma and barriers that keep people with disabilities from participating in the workforce. We are preparing talented individuals to be self-employed, working artists contributing to our community, and our economy.
