During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
We work hand in hand with Birmingham City School students. They need our help. We need you to help us in the classroom. You will work with them, 1 on 1, in subjects like math, geography, reading and public speaking. Our students apply and attend at the recommendation of the local recreation center director and their parents.
We could use you as much as you are willing to give. During the school year, we are daily, 3:30 to 5:15 and during the summer, we are Tuesday through Thursday, 10 to 3.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

Develop middle school aged boys and girls, who are being raised in underprivileged and underserved neighborhoods of Birmingham, Alabama, into model citizens.
We are a non-profit based in Birmingham, Alabama. We have a twin focus on academic and life skill development. We work in partnership with the Birmingham Park and Recreation department and their recreation centers.
We go to the centers, year round, and teach math, public speaking, US geography, as well as life skills such as cooking and small engine repair. 75% of our time is spent in academics and life skills.
The other 25% of the time, we are outside and teaching the boys and girls how to play lacrosse. We believe that academics and lacrosse are a great combination and will give our students more opportunities to succeed, not only in high school, but also in college.
We use lacrosse as an incentive to participate in Neighborhood Academy. We typically have no more than 10 students in a classroom.
We'll work with your schedule.
