During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
No one should die alone. We are looking for compassionate volunteers to sit with patients in their last days of life. The goal of the volunteer is to offer companionship for the patient. The service is provided as needed in shifts. Volunteers will be called when there is a need- you get to decide if you are available or not. Volunteers will be provided specialized training for this role.
The main objective is for the patient to be comfortable and you to provide non-medical support up until the last moments. The ideal person will possess good communication skills, good judgement regarding the death and dying process and issues related to death, be able to work independently- while keeping the team updated, and be empathetic and compassionate with a good attitude.
We will pay for a background check, TB tests, provide training and we reimburse mileage reimbursement- parking is free.
