This solicitation is to help seek volunteers for expansion of a nonprofit organization started with other volunteers in 2012. Global Mustard Seed Missions (GMSM) is a 501(C)3 organization. Our mission has been hosting outpatient mobile medical clinics. Since that time we have helped local doctors first in Haiti and then in Tanzania render mobile medical services to socioeconomically disenfranchised populations. The goal is to facilitate local clinicians running mobile clinics in developing countries and theoretically make it possible for them to sustain clinics when feasible since they live on the ground.

The initial focus was on Haiti in response to the catastrophic earthquake of January 2010, where there were numerous short term organizations that rushed in to provide immediate services. After variable time periods when there is a massive event of this tragic nature, health problems can become overwhelming in impoverished nations. Problems that later develop such as cholera and malnutrition need attention when larger groups have departed from the country. Local doctors are well poised to provide care year round since they are knowledgeable about the management of endemic conditions.

The mission is unique in that it seeks to equip locals who live in a country with tools including: medications; supplies; equipment and Christian based spiritual support to provide medical care to run mobile clinics after first responding organizations have withdrawn and health problems still exist or are potentially magnified. A key aspect of these clinics will be an emphasis on healthy lifestyles with cultural and language specific educational handouts containing diagrams available at each clinic. Medications are provided for the clinics from donations received from individuals and one time a company, Americorps; purchased both in the United States and pharmacies in the countries served. This method of purchasing medications in country helps to stimulate the economies where it can benefit from the local markets. Funds obtained to purchase the medicines, supplies and equipment will stem from fundraisers, grants and possibly direct donations.

We serve people regardless of their belief systems and or religious practices. We are open to future expansion in other countries.

GMSM is seeking volunteers to help with our upcoming benefit scheduled October 15, 2016 and mobile clinic operations.

We welcome assistance with the development of brochures and other public health literature.

Interest in event planning/fundraising, there are opportuities for these skills.

Any assistance with volunteer grantwriting and fundraising is also welcome.

Trip planning such as medication, supply and equipment solicitation is desired.
