Noone should die alone. We are looking for volunteers to sit with patients in their last days of life. The goal of this volunteer is to offer companionship for a patient or to support the family members during this time. The service is provided as needed and volunteers will be on call, however the hours will be 8 am to 9 pm. Volunteers will be trained for this specialized opportunity and must be flexible.
The main objective is to be comfortable and give non-medical support up until the last moments. The ideal person will possess good communication skills, good judgement regarding death and dying process and issues related to death, be able and willing to work independently and be empathetic and compassionate with a good attitude.
