Ushering is a fun and easy way to get more involved with arts and culture in Cleveland Heights. Our season runs from October to May and we're looking to grow our team. In return, you get a chance to see our ground-breaking season productions while meeting other performing arts enthusiasts.

Dobama is proud to have an incredible group of dedicated volunteers who work with us regularly. We depend on our amazing volunteers to help serve the thousands of patrons who pass through our doors each year. As an usher, you will help our patrons feel welcome and comfortable as they enter our theatre spaces to find their seats, take tickets, box office and concessions help. Shifts are an hour to help get patrons in, but you are always welcome to stay and watch the performance.

Giving back has never been so entertaining. We look forward to meeting you!

About Dobama Theatre

Location:

2340 LEE RD, CLEVELAND HTS, OH 44118, US

Mission Statement

Dobama Theatre’s mission is to premiere the best contemporary plays by established and emerging playwrights in professional productions of the highest quality. Through educational and outreach programming, Dobama Theatre nurtures the development of theatre artists and builds new audiences for the arts while provoking an examination of our contemporary world.

Description

Dobama Theatre was founded in 1959 by Donald and Marilyn Bianchi, Barry Silverman and Mark Silverberg. During those years, Dobama has worked consistently to professionally produce plays of consequence not previously offered at other area theaters. The Theatre is committed to innovative programming, professional performance standards, nurturing new playwrights, developing new audiences and educational outreach. In addition to offering a unique theater experience to Cleveland audiences, Dobama is dedicated to the nurturing and development of area theater artists. Dobama began employing equity artists in 1995 and the cultivation of new writers is a major focus of all Dobama’s programming.

Each year Dobama produces six Mainstage plays. 98% percent of our Mainstage productions have been Cleveland, American or World premieres. Dobama’s reputation for being professional, innovative, and forward-thinking has led to numerous honors including 19 awards from the Cleveland Critics Circle, an Outstanding Achievement in Theatre Award from the Ohio Theatre Alliance, and two Theatre Excellence Awards from Northern Ohio Live magazine.
