About

The McHenry County Historical Society is looking for volunteers interested in preserving local history and can help organize, accession (catalog) and photograph artifacts in the museum's collection, specifically the textile collection.

The textile collection includes mens, womens and children’s clothing dating from the 1860s - 1970s as well as coats and outerwear, undergarments, military uniforms, accessories, quilts, bedding and linen sets.

The accessioning volunteers are trained on how to write up descriptions on artifacts, catalogue artifacts on the museum’s computer database and the proper way to handle and care for the textile collection.

The museum is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
