Rural Dog Rescue rescues dogs from high-kill shelters and finds them homes in the DMV area. We focus our efforts on shelters that euthanize over 70% of dogs or euthanize within 72 hours, with a special commitment to saving the "underdogs": animals that are often overlooked because of sickness, seniority, injury or their perceived breed. We are 100% volunteer-based and have placed upwards of 1,000 dogs in forever homes!
RDR is in need of volunteers every Saturday from 12-3pm and every Sunday from 12-2pm to help at our adoption events. Volunteers handle and walk dogs and talk to potential adopters about our adoptable animals and the rescue process.
No prior experience with dog handling or rescue is needed - all training is provided at your first event! Volunteers must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by a parent, and comfortable controlling a leashed dog.
If interested, please fill out our Volunteer Questionnaire and we will be in touch: http://bit.ly/RDRvolunteer
