A mentor is a trusted guide who accepts someone for who they are and is a source of encouragement for who they can become. Mentors share knowledge and experience with ex-offenders re-entering into the community in order to help the ex-offender define and reach his/her goals.

Mentor
A one-on-one, supportive relationship between a mentee working to develop and succeed, and an individual sharing knowledge and experience to help the mentee define and achieve his/her goals. Mentoring relationships are based on trust and respect.
Circle of Support and Accountability Member or Circle Leader
An ancient dialogue practice that creates a safe space to discuss difficult topics. The Circle builds trust, relies on honesty and respect, and encourages speaking from the heart. Together, the group celebrates successes and achievement of goals
Jail and Prison Visitation
Visiting with inmates to offer a ministry of presence and companionship, possible opportunities for Bible study, faith sharing, and worship, depending on the facility

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque was founded in 1931 as a non-profit, social service organization in the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The organization serves 30 counties in Northeast Iowa and is part of a national social services network through Catholic Charities USA working to reduce poverty, strengthen families and empower communities.
