Homework Club Leader

Use your leadership skills to support local students as a Homework Club Leader!

Homework Clubs provide after-school assistance for K-8th grade students at different San Jose Public Library branches. East San Jose Carnegie is searching for a Leader that can help recruit, train, and schedule other volunteers. They will also assist with promoting the Homework Club to the public and to maintain volunteer and student records. We will provide training on recruitment, promotion and record keeping.

This an excellent opportunity to provide an important service in making a difference in children's learning and their success in school. Having bilingual skills (English & Spanish or English & Vietnamese) are highly desired, but not required.

We are looking for a 5 month commitment of 3-6 hours a week. You may volunteer Tuesday and/or Thursday from 3:45 - 6:15 pm.

Qualifications

  • Age 18 or older (21 or older preferred)
  • Fingerprint clearance required for volunteers 18 or over
  • Some experience with tutoring and/or youth
  • Ability to develop and work with a team
  • The ability to think on your feet and have some fun!
