Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region helps children age 6-14 reach their potential by providing them with one-to-one mentoring relationships. Volunteers are matched based on preferences regarding location, age, ethnicity, interests, activity level and lots more- we can find the perfect Little for you! Matches are asked to meet a minimum of two times a month to do anything that interests them- go to the movies, play video games, bake, golf, shop- anything! Outings are on your schedule; no set time or day, just have fun on your schedule! Remember you dont have to change your life to change theirs! Please visit our website (bbbscr.org) to learn more about how this volunteer experience can work with your life! If you are interested please reply to this post with your phone number and the best time for a staff member to reach you.
