Many tutors and students meet at local libraries.
Tutors see direct rewards from their work and take pride in helping students become more independent, comfortable members of our community.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley needs volunteers to help adults learn English. A four-session tutor training workshop will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 9, 11, 16, and 18 at the St. Charles Public Library, One South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley provides texts, study material, and training so that anyone can be a tutor. You don't need a second language or a teaching background to qualify.

Once you are trained, you meet with your student for one hour each week. We arrange convenient, comfortable, and safe public locations for tutoring. If you can spare one hour each week, we can fit tutoring into your schedule.

From week to week, you'll see your student get more comfortable and fluent in English and you will know you are making a big difference in their lives. You will get guidance and support when you need it and experienced tutors are glad to share what they have learned.

Register for tutor training at or call/text Peg Coker at 630-584-4428.
