The Audio-Reader Network, an audio information service for people with vision loss and other issues that prevent them from reading standard print, is recruiting readers to record Kansas City-area newspapers for broadcast. Those who meet the requirements will be assigned to a specific day of reading or our substitute reader list and focus their attention on local news articles. All readings are done from Alphapointe, 7501 Prospect Ave.
All volunteers must take and pass an audition, which consists of a 100 word pronunciation test and a series of reading samples. Your reading will be evaluated for smoothness, inflection, pronunciation, enunciation and voice quality.
For more information about Audio-Reader, visit our website at www.reader.ku.edu. Those who want to schedule an audition should fill out our volunteer application at www.reader.ku.edu/volunteer-application, or contact Coordinator of Volunteers Jennifer Nigro at jnigro@ku.edu or (785) 864-4604.
