Lawndale Christian Legal Center

Remember that feeling when you open the mailbox and find a letter from a friend? Through LCLC's Correspondence Ministry, you can give that same gift to a youth who is incarcerated! Through your monthly letter, you are able to "visit the imprisoned" by writing words of encouragement. While youth may not always write back, they will oftentimes tape the letters to their cell wall and even take the letters home upon release. Contact LCLC now to learn how you can begin writing letters today!

18 and up are welcome to participate. This volunteer opportunity has limited capacity so be sure to contact Hogan at hbrock@lclc.net or 773-762-6381 to learn how you can become a volunteer letter writer today! For more information about LCLC, please visit www.lclc.net.

Mission Statement

The Lawndale Christian Legal Center's mission is to show and share the love of Jesus by providing legal services grounded in restorative justice for youth in the Lawndale area.

Description

Our vision is to raise up justly-treated youth who are restored from trauma, empowered to lead, embraced by their families and community, and free from the criminal justice system.

We do this by providing legal representation and social service care to court-involved youth, ages 24 and younger, who reside in Chicago, IL’s community of North Lawndale.

Services include legal representation, case management, one-on-one mentoring, jobs training and placement, mental health services, an after school program, and a diversion program.

As a non-profit organization, our volunteers are an integral part of fulfilling our vision. From grabbing a bite to eat with a youth under the one-on-one mentoring program to building relationships in a group setting with the After School Program, volunteers are indispensable.
