Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program: Volunteers help advocate for residents who live in local long-term care facilities (Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities) by monitoring their care and treatment. Ombudsman volunteers conduct routine facility visits to interview residents about their care and to receive resident complaints. Volunteers also educate facility staff and residents about Resident Rights and the Ombudsman Program.
This is a very rewarding position, knowing that you help inform and empower residents and their families - ensuring their rights are respected. Extensive ongoing training is provided. Costs of background check is covered by Davis County. This opportunity provides semi-flexible service hours.
This volunteer opportunity is offered through Davis County Retired & Senior Volunteer Program and is for people age 55 or older through RSVP but is also open to people younger than 55. RSVP benefits (only for RSVP members 55+) include :
- Supplemental insurance while in service
- Mileage reimbursement for travel to and from the volunteer site
- Ongoing recognition programs throughout the year

Mission Statement
Davis County RSVP empowers and enables Americans 55+ in addressing community needs and concerns through volunteering.
Description
Americans 55+ have a lifetime of experience to share and the desire to make a real difference in their world. Members of this mature generation have managed households, been business owners and nurses, farmers and salespeople, artists and executives. Now they are ready to put their unique talents and expertise to work in their communities, and enrich their own lives in the process.
RSVP is the connection to aid volunteers in choosing how and where to serve, time of service, causes to support, and how to get started. RSVP provides pre-service orientation, training from the organization where service is given, supplemental insurance while on duty, and, in some cases, a mileage reimbursement to cover the cost of travel between home and the volunteer site.
When you volunteer, you're not just helping others - you're helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
