PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Become a volunteer in Disaster Cycle Services. Respond to community and larger disasters, support response as a member of a regional task group
OPEN TIME DAYS
Local response｠- Disaster Action Team (DAT)- on call weekdays, weekends and holidays; allowances can be made to account for volunteers' work schedules.｠Three shifts a month required.
Regional and state deployment - requires｠a minimum of｠one week.
Deployment outside of NJ｠- requires a minimum of two weeks
Regional Task Group｠- attend meetings as scheduled and work with the group as needed
REQUIRED TRAININGOrientation to the American Red Cross is required.
Disaster training is required, provided free of charge and is web-based and/or instructor-led in a classroom.｠
Initial basic courses include:
Disaster Services: An Overview
Disaster Action Team Fundamentals
Shelter Fundamentals
Feeding Fundamentals
Casework and Recovery Planning Fundamentals
Disaster Assessment Fundamentals
Other courses are required for specific response roles.｠
