Small Animal Foster Parents provide a temporary happy and healthy home to rabbits, guinea pigs, or rats rescued from Milwaukee Animal Control (MADACC). Small Animal Foster parents must be fully committed to the well-being and needs of the small animals in their care until adoption. A Small Animal Foster Parent's primary responsibility is to get them ready to be adopted into their forever homes by meeting the physical, mental, and health needs of the pet in their care. Foster Parents (along with Adoption Counselor) will conduct meet n’ greets in the foster home after potential match is determined from received inquiries on the foster animal (once ready for adoption). Foster Parents must be able to transport their foster animal to vet appointments and spay/neuter appointment. MPA Foster Parents are supported by MPA volunteers and will be given the tools necessary to succeed.
Training: Foster application, background check, home visit, and new foster orientation required.
Time Commitment: Complete. Small Animal Foster Parents must be fully committed and dedicated to the animals in their care until adoption.
Travel: Required to transport foster animals in your care to veterinary appointments, etc.
