Provide a befriending role to a young person
Work with parents to develop their child’s communication and interaction
Provide an extra pair of hands on practical issues that the family identify e.g. getting out and about
Provide information, and signposting to statutory and voluntary organisations for further information/advice e.g. statementing, benefits, play schemes, respite
Encourage a child to take part in leisure activities and be independent
You will be required to support a family anywhere in Birmingham and the surrounding boroughs. We will however try to place you as close to where you are living as possible

Mission Statement
Resources for Autism is an organisation that aims to improve the lives of children and young people who are diagnosed with autism, wherever they are on the spectrum. RfA has been serving those with an autistic spectrum condition and their families and carers in West Midlands for the past 7 years. Our aim is to bridge the gaps in practical services for people wherever they are on the autistic spectrum and for all ages. With the service expanding in the West Midlands, we are urgently in need of reliable, committed and caring volunteers who want to change lives via our Reach Out service.
Description
Registered charity providing practical services for children and adults with a diagnosis of autism and support for their families and friends. Working in Greater London and the West Midlands offering specialist arts therapies, play and youth services, one to one support, adult skills and social groups, Reach Out home support, supported volunteering for those on the spectrum and volunteering in the community, trraining and parent groups.
