Coastside Hope - Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Need

Reading Tutor for at-risk children (1st-3rd grade):
In elementary education, students learn to read until the third grade and read to learn thereafter. Children who do not master reading by the end of the third grade will be at a disadvantage, and high school graduation rates can be predicted by third grade reading skills.
You can help at-risk Coastside children learn to read by investing just a few hours a week as a tutor. For more details, please contact Peter Lowenberg at lowenber@ix.netcom.com or Keith Terry at keith@coastsidehope.org

Mission Statement

Since 1976, Coastside Hope has been the organization where neighbors come together to help each other and take care of our community. Our goal today is to help our neighbors meet their most basic needs while helping every one of us reach our full potential. We accomplish this by providing three things: Necessities, Opportunities, Community.

Description

Coastside Hope is a community based organization providing emergency assistance to local families and seniors in crisis.

We are a safety net agency that lends critical support to the homeless, low-income, elderly and disabled residents of the Coastside.

Our programs include emergency/supplemental food, rental and utility assistance, crisis intervention and referral, and case management.

A Special Delivery program provides families and seniors with much needed new clothing, shoes and household items.

Our Christmas Bureau Adopt a Family, run by volunteers serves over 390 low income families.

We also provide income tax preparation, citizenship classes, immigration status counseling and form assistance.
