Refugee Youth Preparing for the HSPE
These students are working with a volunteer mentor to prepare for the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE). The HSPE is a statewide, standardized test which students must pass in order to graduate. Here students are re-organizing a piece of writing. Who can find the introduction?

CRB’s Kent Youth Program targets newly arrived refugee and ELL youth who are in need of additional academic support outside of the classroom. Students participate in a variety of academic and enrichment activities weekly on Mondays from 2:30-4:30 and Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:30 PM, to increase their knowledge on college and career readiness, receive individualized homework help, develop soft skills such as team-work, and increase their reading and writing skills.

POSITION SUMMARY: CRB is seeking volunteer Classroom Tutors to provide individualized or small group tutoring services to high school aged refugee and ELL youth at Kent Meridian High School in Kent, WA. In addition to providing homework support, Classroom Tutors assist students as they participate in academic activities to improve their reading and writing skills and increase their knowledge of college and career readiness.
