Mission Statement

The Literacy Council's mission is to provide adult learners with one-on-one, free, confidential tutoring to develop or improve skills in speaking, reading, writing, math, English as a second language, and basic computer knowledge.

Description

The Literacy Council accepts referrals for students who need help with basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills. Students' needs and goals are individually assessed and they are matched with volunteer tutors. Tutors are trained in the Laubach Literacy system. They meet with students in community locations for 1-2 hours per week to provide one-on-one tutoring.
