Help garden in this community plot in the Oakland Hills for Creek to Bay Day! Activities include litter pickup, sheet mulching, and invasive plant removal, and maintenance of the butterfly garden and planted areas. The park is located at Chelton Drive and Ascot Drive (look for the painted rock that people have painted with birthday and special occasion messages for about 50 years!). The Friends recognize that citizen participation, from residents to decision-makers, teachers, and students, is critical for building long-term commitment to protecting Sausal Creek as a natural resource for the greater Oakland community.
Description
Friends of Sausal Creek is a volunteer-based, nonprofit, community organization dedicated to promoting awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of Oakland’s Sausal Creek Watershed, which drains to the San Francisco Bay. Formed in 1996, the Friends recognize that citizen participation-from residents to decision-makers, teachers, and students-is critical for building a long-term commitment to protecting Sausal Creek as a natural resource for the greater Oakland community.
