A DWW Pup in Training

Do you love dogs? Particularly Labrador Retrievers? We are looking for foster homes to care for our dogs while they undergo training to become Service, Guide, Autism-Service, Facility, and Companion dogs! Help a blind person get a Guide Dog, a child with Autism get an Autism-Service Dog, or a person in a wheelchair get a Service Dog. It all starts with you, being willing to try!

The commitment is only one year and you can raise a puppy or an adult dog, based on what suits you and your lifestyle best! If you go on holidays, we have volunteers who will watch them! Fostering is free; we provide the food, equipment, training, and vet care.

No dog experience is required and you can still foster if you have a pet dog of your own! (Up to two dogs with up-to-date vaccines).

Please contact Kerri at (780) 944-8011 or kerri@dogswithwings.ca for any questions. We are always looking for foster homes, especially puppy foster homes, our program could not exist without them!

Mission Statement

We are a leader in the international community of assistance dog training schools. Our mission is to foster integration and independence for people with disabilities by providing them with highly trained assistance dogs and aftercare.

Description

Dogs with Wings is responsive to our community. When we began as Western Guide Dog Foundation, we placed only Guide Dogs. We added a Service Dog program in response to client demand. In 2007 we added Autism Service Dogs in response to the growing need for these special companions. Over the years, we have provided Assistance Dogs to all areas in the Province of Alberta.

We are also tied to our community via the volunteers who do so much for us. Since 1996, we have had literally hundreds of people assisting us by raising puppies, housing our adult dogs in training, and helping us with countless public events, fundraising ventures and the day-to-day business of running a not-for-profit organization.
