Would you like to help students learn skills and knowledge that will help them enhance their employability and start on the path to a new career?

ABERG CENTER for LITERACY seeks a volunteer instructor with a background in HR or Career Counseling to facilitate our new CAREER TRACK class.

The class will be open to GED and Advanced ESL students looking to improve their workforce skills. Students will set goals, write a resume / cover letter, create a career development plan, develop soft skills, professional etiquette and practice for interviews. In addition, students will be exposed to college and career pathways through special guest speakers from agencies like DCCCD, Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas, CityPlace, SkillQuest and more.

Date/Time - Fridays, 10am-12pm

Semester - Sept 14 - Dec 14

The Aberg Center for Literacy is building richer lives, stronger families and better communities through programs in English fluency, Spanish and English high school equivalency preparation, early childhood education and family literacy.

Description

Aberg Center for Literacy's primary areas of focus are English learning, high school equivalency preparation and family literacy, including educational opportunities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Classes are volunteer-led and tuition-free.Classes meet from 9 AM - 1 PM Monday through Thursday. Holidays follow the Dallas ISD calendar. Aberg Center offices are located at and graciously provided by St. Matthew's Episcopal Cathedral in Old East Dallas and Casa Linda United Methodist Church in East Dallas.
