Meals 4 Kids Meal Packers Needed -- SW Portland

Are you passionate about serving children in our community? This is your opportunity to help alleviate childhood hunger.
Meals 4 Kids is a new program through Meals on Wheels People that feeds children 0-18 years old and their caregivers in the city of Portland. We deliver a week's worth of meals, depending on their needs. We rely on volunteers to help deliver these nutritious meals.
Drivers: Currently we deliver Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with shifts occurring in two hour increments between 8am-4pm. We are looking for people that have their own vehicle who are able to lift up to 40lbs.
Packers: Two volunteers needed for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for two hour shift to assist with packing meals. We would like volunteers who are interested in doing this on an ongoing basis from 10am to noon. The ability to lift 40# is required

We enrich the lives of seniors and assist them in maintaining their independence by making nutritious food, social contacts and other resources easily available. Our organization is community based, emphasizes volunteer involvement and is financially sound.
Description
Meals on Wheels People is a nonprofit, secular organization that has provided seniors with hot meals and opportunities for health, hope and friendship since 1970. Each year more than 7,500 volunteers prepare and deliver 1.3 million meals to seniors in the Portland-Vancouver metro area. The loyal support of our volunteers combined with the generous financial contributions of our donors keeps the vision of Meals on Wheels Centers alive.
