SOS Outreach at Meadows 2014
Riders making a difference on Mt. Hood.

We need organized and efficient individuals who can help our mentors get connected with community service activities based on their desired focus (e.g., environment), date, time, neighborhood/location, and number of students (in their group).

SOS Outreach offers a value-based leadership curriculum that enhances the experience for students by promoting self-respect, positive relationships, social justice, and positive values. Students discuss and discover the meaning of our 5 core values; courage, discipline, integrity, wisdom, and compassion. SOS partners with youth agencies and mountain resorts in the winter and spring to provide multi-day snow sports programs that incorporate these SOS core values. SOS mentors encourage the students to uncover the way these values affect their everyday actions.

Description

SOS Outreach’s mission is to transform the lives of underserved youth by delivering long-term life skills development through progressive outdoor adventure-based programs. With a unique combination of outdoor adventure experiences, positive adult mentorship and leadership development opportunities, SOS Outreach enables youth to unleash their potential to thrive. Last year alone, SOS served 4,829 youth across 22,618 program days, making SOS a program leader across the country. While providing outdoor recreation experiences for that number of youth is impressive, it is only a partial demonstration of SOS Outreach’s impact. Through continuous, multi-faceted youth development programming SOS witnesses personal transformations and changed realities daily.
