As a part of the PruittHealth Hospice Volunteer Program we are actively looking into recruitting volunteers that are skilled and have a high interest in providing Pet Therapy with our hospice patients. Those that are able to provide Pet Therapy services will be considered a specialty volunteer with our PruittHealth Hospice Volunteer Program. See further information about our Volunteer Program below.

PruittHealth Hospice volunteers are the heart and essence of hospice. Volunteers are a "gift" to our agency, the patients as well as the family. They work hand-in-hand with the members of the hospice team to provide a high quality end-of-life experience to our patients and families. Volunteers provide unique services, such as visiting with patients and families, reading, playing music, and serving as a companion.

If you have a few hours each month to give and the desire to make a difference in the life of another, you could be a PruittHealth Hospice Volunteer. As a hospice volunteer you will be an essential part of our caring team. Know that the "gift" you have shared will add value to the life that you have touched.

PruittHealth Hospice Volunteers may serve in several ways:

You can be a patient volunteer which performs activities designed to help the patient know that he or she is not alone, such as playing cards, reading a newspaper, writing letters, Serving as a companion, etc.

You can be a office (administrative) volunteer which assist the office manager in day-to-day operations, such as typing up daily patient lists, filing, making phone calls, answering the telephone, etc.

You could serve as a Bereavement Volunteer which provided emotional support after the death of a loved one. Extra training is provided to the bereavement volunteer and it is often a natural extension of the patient volunteer.

Finally, we are introducing a new addition to our volunteer program, Pet Therapy volunteers! As a Pet Therapy Volunteer you will be able to go into the homes and/or facilities that our patients reside to provide Pet Therapy services. Pet Therapy Certification is prefered, however volunteer can gain required hours to become pet therapy certified through volunteer hours.
