PruittHealth Hospice

PruittHealth Hospice is seeking volunteers. Our goal is to help patients and families make the most of the end of life. We need compassionate people to provide support for our patients, provide respite and support for family members, and provide administrative support to our office staff. Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice team and there are as many different volunteer roles. We provide extensive training and ongoing support.

We need volunteers in several counties including Wilkes, Surry, Guilford, Forsyth, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Rowan. We can find you an opportunity close to your place of residence.

Whether you are a Patient Volunteer or and Office Volunteer, you can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. If you have a few hours a week or a month, we would love to talk to you about becoming a PruittHealth Hospice Volunteer. If you would be interested in hearing about all the ways you can help, please call (336)-667-0548 and ask for Sherry.

I look forward to meeting you!

Mission Statement

Our Mission: Our Family, Your family, ONE FAMILY; Committed to loving, giving and caring; United in making a difference. Our Vision: To be innovators in a seamless and superior health delivery system to the communities we serve.

Description

PruittHealth Hospice volunteers are the heart and essence of Hospice. Volunteers are a "gift" to the agency, the patient and the family. They work hand-in-hand with the members of the hospice team to provide a high quality end-of-life experience to our patients and families. Volunteers provide unique services, such as visiting with patients and families, reading, playing music, and serving as a companion.

How can you help?

If you have a few hours each month to give and the desire to make a difference in the life of another, you could be a PruittHealth Hospice Volunteer. As a hospice volunteer you will be an essential part of our caring team. Know that the "gift" you have shared will add value to the life that you have touched.

Volunteers can serve as Patient Volunteers, Office Volunteers, and Bereavement Volunteers.

Patient volunteers preform activities designed to help the patient know that he or she is not alone. Some activities may be watching TV, looking at photos, playing cards, listening to music, and reading.

Office volunteers assist the office manager in day-to-day operations. (such as typing up daily patient lists, filing, making phone calls, etc.)

Bereavement volunteers provide emotional support after the death of a loved one. Extra training is provided to the bereavement volunteer and it is often a natural extension of the patient volunteer.
