The ambassador will represent the Aging and Disability Services Division's special projects programs to seniors, caregivers, the disabled and the general public by providing information about the programs and assisting with access to the programs. The ambassador will also attend special events from time to time and share information with various agency representatives. The programs that the Ambassador will promote are:
- Medicare’s Improvements for Patient and Providers Act (MIPPA), also known as Medicare’s "Extra Help" or Low Income Subsidy (LIS). This program provides financial assistance to qualifying individuals for prescription drug costs.
- Stanford University’s Chronic Disease Self-Management and Diabetes Self-Management Programs (CDSMP & DSMP). This program educates those individuals living with diabetes and other chronic illness on tools and techniques to improve their quality of life.
- Stanford University/Arizona State University’s Alzheimer’s Disease Supportive Services Program (ADSSP) and known as Care Partners Reaching Out (CarePRO). This program provides services to caregivers of Alzheimer's.

Mission Statement
The Aging and Disability Services Division provides leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan. This allows all of Nevada’s elders, adults and children with disabilities or special health care needs to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.
Description
To fulfill our mission, the State of Nevada works largely with a volunteer corps that serves seniors and individuals with disabilities with:
- understanding their Medicare benefit plan and options available;
- protecting themselves from Medicare fraud, waste and abuse;
- learning how to live with chronic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure;
- applying for low-income subsidy programs to pay for prescription drugs; and
- advocating for rights and quality of care for residents living in long-term care facilities
