Please join us this year on our 16th Annual Spicket River Cleanup, schedule for Saturday, September 16th from 8am to 1p. Since 2002, Groundwork has engaged over 5,500 residents, students, and local corporations in clearing over 100s of tons of debris and over 2,500 tires from the banks of the Spicket River with 15 annual cleanups.
In the past 15 years we have removed over 120 tons of debris from in and along the banks of the Spicket River. At the same time, we’ve worked with the City of Lawrence in the construction 7 new or improved park spaces along the Spicket.

Description
Groundwork Lawrence was initiated in February 1999 to be a catalyst for the improvement of parks, open space and river ways in the City of Lawrence. Groundwork works to encourage a broad vision, bring together diverse stakeholders and build sustainable improvements that advance the community's quality of life. Groudwork provides full service planning and development scope including technical assistance in planning and design, community organizing, contract and maintenance programming and stewdarship development.
