OPPORTUNITY FOR Senior Managers and Executives

Position: Mentor to Entrepreneurs in Manhattan, Brooklyn and The Bronx.

Compensation: Volunteering at SCORE is one of the ways for you to give back to your community, connect with fellow business leaders, and pass on your knowledge and expertise to the next generation of entrepreneurs in your community.

Background: For over 50 years, SCORE Mentors have been providing counsel and assistance to thousands of entrepreneurs and small business owners across New York City. Annually SCORE NYC volunteers help over 5,000 entrepreneurs to plan, start and expand small businesses, creating more jobs.

Responsibilities: With the ability to schedule your SCORE commitment (120 or more hours per year) to your personal convenience, choose among the following:

■ Provide confidential general business mentoring, both in person and online, to SCORE clients;

■ Use your industry experience to help those who share that interest create and build their own enterprise;

■ Contribute your special expertise in marketing, finance, law, technology, manufacturing, human resources to other mentors and their clients;

■ Lead or assist in seminars and workshops to help small business owners meet their goals and achieve success;

■ Contribute to the strength and growth of SCORE New York through adding your management expertise to this totally volunteer organization.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

■ 10+ years as an active or retired business or management leader;

■ Senior experience in a general or functional management position;

■ An ability to quickly assess business opportunities;

■ Excellent listening skills;

■ Ability to establish rapport with younger self starters;

■ A real desire to help others succeed.

SCORE, is a national business mentoring organization with 300+ offices and 11,000+ volunteers. SCORE was founded in 1964 by the US Small Business Administration (SBA).

SCORE 's mission is to provide FREE one-on-one confidential business counseling and affordable, skills-based workshops to small business owners and those wishing to start a business.

SCORE NYC is the NY metro area local chapter. We have five convenient offices located in Brooklyn, Bronx and Manhattan.

Annually, SCORE NYC assists over 5,000 clients and conducts in excess of 9,500 client mentoring sessions.It also provdes over 100 educational workshops on business topics.

SCORE NYC's volunteer team has a wide variety of industry experience including: retailing, manufacturing, technology , import-export, hospitality, communication, distribution, and nonprofits. We have expertise in business planning, strategy, finance, accounting, taxes, branding, marketing, customer development, public relations, e-commerce , legal, patents & trademarks, general management, and human resources.
