About

Do you have a passion to help seniors? Do you want to be trained in Medicare and be able to speak about Medicare to people in your community?

If so then become a Community Outreach Educator and volunteer with the Senior LinkAge Line.

Share information about the Senior LinkAge Line, Medicare, health care fraud, and long term care insurance to community groups. Help by providing staffing at community events like health fairs, senior expos, conferences, and other senior community events where the Senior LinkAge Line exhibits. Your work will be primarily in your community however there are opportunities to volunteer in the entire Arrowhead Region of Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties.

To become a Community Outreach Educator you will first need to become a Senior LinkAge Line volunteer counselor. To be a counselor you will need to complete our training; the next three-day class will be held in early 2017 but don't wait untill then--contact me now. We are taking applications now as the class fills up quickly.

We offer this training only two or three times a year. At this time we are accepting applications for those of you who are interested. Upon successful completion of the three-day training class volunteers will receive certification through the Minnesota Board on Aging as a Health Insurance Counselor with the State Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP). Volunteers will receive staff support, guidance, and on-going training as you provide assistance and outreach to Medicare consumers.

If you are interested in this opportunity, or have questions, please contact me. Please contact Lee Swenson, Volunteer Coordinator with the Senior LinkAge Line at 218-529-7539.
